The Pine Point Community Council meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM
at the Pine Point Community Center (old school).
The Pine Point Community Council (Council) was re-organized in 2002, as non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and is recognized by the tribe, state and federal governments. The Council is exclusively for charitable, educational, religious, or scientific purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Council’s goals include youth activities, beautification projects, police protection, elder programs, and programs that will help improve and promote the welfare of the Pine Point community and surrounding areas.
Projects are funded through Bingo revenue, the White Earth Investment Initiative, White Earth Housing Authority, or loans from MMCDC.
Past, present, and ongoing projects of the Council are:
- Projects completed:
- Removed junk cars
- Removed burned out trailer houses
- Assisted in the construction and completion of a $50,000 Pow Wow grounds
- Financed the building of a new ballpark
- Youth activities:
- Coordinate with Toys 4 Tots and provide toys at Community Christmas Dinner
- Coordinated with the Reservation Youth Recreation Program to have a person located in the community
- Assisted in the creation of the Boys and Girls Club – Pine Point Unit
- Sponsor teen dances
- Provided financial assistance for graduations at Circle of Life School and Park Rapids Area High School
- Provided financial assistance for Pine Point Headstart activities
- Provided financial assistance to the Pine Point Boys Basketball and Boxing Programs
- Coordinate community activities during the Reservation Family’s First Week
- Elderly and community:
- Provided financial assistance to elderly for programs, travel and purchase of a new television at the Elderly Nutrition site
- Purchase hams for distribution at community Christmas dinner/party
- Purchase and process wild rice for community events
- Provided financial assistance for softball teams (men, women, and old timers)
- Provided financial assistance to bowling and volleyball leagues
- Provided financial assistance for the annual Pine Point Pow wow
- Sponsor the annual Margaret Norcross Award
- Established the Rez Rags Thrift Store
- Established a Community Food Shelf
- Sponsor the annual Community Cleanup program
- Crime prevention:
- Provided financial assistance for White Earth Reservation Youth Safety Firearm, ATV, and Snowmobile classes
- Provide annual funding for fire and rescue protection in the community and surrounding areas
